function13 confirmed to open for Babyland
May 10, 2009
Junk-punkers Babyland to perform at Small's in Hamtramck, July 7, 2009
BABYLAND embodies the
integration of electronic music with the
direct approach of hardcore and the
intensity of junk noise. Compositions
are conceptually based on the extreme
emotional elements of humankind as
reflected in our continual evolution and
search for meaning within our own
existence.
Throughout the years,
elements of synth pop, hardcore punk
rock, new wave, techno, drum & bass
and noise have all fallen prey to Babyland's
continual experimentation. Utilizing
machinery twisted through misuse and
human error to aggressively address the audience with empathy and
concern; The electronic elements and
primitive rhythmic base of the music
provides an intense clarity and opposition
to the resulting confusion and noise.
The stronghold of Babyland's existence has
always been intense live performances
which confront audiences with an
honest celebration of extreme energy,
harsh sonic and visual elements, and
experimental destruction.
No excuse is valid for missing this show ;)

This one is going to be insane!!!
While not an "official" Darque Productions event, we are happy to be getting the word out for our friends at Smalls about an upcoming show. The It Ain't Dead Yet tour will make a stop March 31 in Hamtramck featuring Caustic, Prometheus Burning, and The Gothsicles. Plus just for Detroit, Split Horizon is included on the bill. From Caustic's legendary shenanigans to The Gothsicles satirical take on goth/Nintendo culture, on into the fierceness of Prometheus Burning and Split Horizon - this show is going to be one amazingly good time. Not convinced? Matt from Caustic offers this:
1) Merch deals-- see, when there's no need for shipping and handling and we need gas money CDs and other stuff are generally cheaper than buying things online. That's win-win for you, PLUS there's often stuff you CAN'T get online for a tour, so you'll have dibs on the newest, hawtest shiznit.
2) A lasting memory and hearing damage. Nothing spells "memory" like "tinnitus". Believe me, I know. Wear ear plugs and revel in the days of your youth, when energy was plentiful and your metabolism didn't give out. All that plus EXERCISE (ie working off all the booze many of you will be drinking or have dranked)
3) We're LIVE, bitches!!! There's a reason these 3 bands are touring together-- none of us really want to follow the next one and we all do our own thang and (I think) do it well. In short, you miss this you'll regret it. Let us make you a believer...and yes, I mean that in a creepy cult way. Of course I do.
4) TiVO and Hulu.com mean not having to give a shit what's on TV that night! Seriously, who gives a shit if you'll miss Grey's fucking Anatomy or America's Funniest Home Videos. This is a one-time deal and the covers are CHEAP for a reason-- we know the economy sucks and if we charged $25 a ticket we'd have exactly nobody there. Again, win-win for you!
5) WE'LL SIGN YOUR TITS AND/OR BALLS!!!! Okay, no. Caustic only signs taints and/or damaged livers (you provide the scalpel). I can't speak for the other bands on that one.
5 [revised]) It's a party with friends, enemies, and everyone you do and don't know. The best thing (in my mind) about the 3 bands on this tour is that we don't do ego bullshit. We just do what we love and hope you love it, too. We're a traveling circus there to fuck your shit up, have a great time, and party like idiots.
So there.
Oh yeah it's ALL AGES to boot.
Hope to see you there!
